Final Evaluation Report: Implementation of the MJJAS/OYAS-DET Screener Across Michigan

The University of Michigan School of Social Work Program Evaluation Group (PEG) has released the final evaluation report regarding the implementation of the MJJAS/OYAS-DET detention screening tool.

Mandated by the “Michigan Justice for Kids and Community” legislation, this validated screening tool was implemented to standardize detention decision-making across the state. This report was funded by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and developed in collaboration with MAFCA and the Michigan Juvenile Detention Association (MJDA).

The evaluation details findings on the pre- and post-mandate decision-making processes, practitioner perceptions of the tool, and aggregate detention admission data.
